Transition Day
Transition Day
The Romsey School, Wednesday 3rd July 2024
Our Transition Day will take place on Wednesday 3rd July 2024 and is open to all pupils starting in Year 7 in September 2024. The day will involve a typical school day with an assembly with their new Progress Leader, a tutor session and four curriculum lessons.
Please note the following details:
Your child should get to the Romsey School by 8.40am at the latest (the site will be open from 8.00am onwards). Use this as a practise run so if they are confident enough to do so, let them walk, cycle or catch the train or bus as they will in September. This can include using our subsided school buses from Southampton but not Hampshire Passenger Transport arranged buses unless prior arrangements have been made directly with them.
They will need:
- To wear their normal smart Primary School Uniform
- Trainers (for their PE session if they have one)
- A normal school bag including basic stationery (don't worry if they don't have this)
- A packed lunch (as they will not be able to access the canteen) Free School Meal students will be provided with a lunch token
The day will conclude at 2.45pm and students will be dismissed from the main hall. Parents should not enter the school site to collect your children (they'd hate this I promise you!) so this is a good opportunity to get them to practise how they are going to travel home in September. Please do not drive anywhere near the school site at the end of the school day. The school was built for a considerably smaller number of students than we now accommodate and as a result traffic can be quite challenging with several double decker buses on site as well. If you are driving, please keep our students safe by parking elsewhere in the town and walking to the school site, meeting your child at the gates.
